No matter who you are or where you’re from, chances are you have been affected in some way by the current global crisis that is COVID-19. Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone who is struggling. We are all in this together. In this time, we continue to see the importance of focusing on positivity. Despite what you may see in the news or mainstream media, there are still many beautiful things happening in the world every single day.
Luckily, there are some amazing media outlets such as goodnewsnetwork.org or theoptimistdaily.com, that share only the good going on in the world! Focus on the positive and you might just find you feel happier, less stressed, and experience less anxiety. In this blog, we’re sharing 5 of our favorite recent stores!
Read on for the good news you needed to hear today:
1. Singing through the Sorrow
While most of the world remains in social isolation, Italians have combated solidarity with the power of their voices. Neighborhoods and apartment facilities around the country are joining together in song to lift spirits. Take a look at this beautiful and inspiring video to see for yourself!
2. Spiderman to the Rescue
Jake Johnson, the voice actor who played Peter Parker in the recent Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, is using his recognizable voice as an opportunity to save the day! He recently began sending encouraging voice messages (while in character as Spider-Man) to kids who are home, unable to do many of the activities they love to do. Thank you for spreading the love, Jake!
3. Sharing the Supplies
One of the main stories being covered by mainstream media is the fact that the global pandemic has caused a shortage of medical supplies such as face masks, gowns, and gloves. However, businesses of all shapes, sizes, and industries have pitched in to make a difference! One unlikely source of resources and meaningful donations can be found within the film industry. While television shows such as Station 19, Grey’s Anatomy, and The Good Doctor are filmed with actors, the medical materials they use within the show are REAL. Production crews are now donating these supplies to hospitals and healthcare professionals who are in need. These donations are making a true difference in our country and our communities.
4. Pet Adoption Rates on the Rise
With the sudden mass closures of businesses across the United States, animal shelters were faced with a dilemma. With some creative thinking, animal shelters, such as Kern County Animal shelter, enacted drive-thru adoption days. After turning to the public through social media, hundreds of shelter animals are being adopted in this unique drive-thru adoption process.
5. A Breath of Fresh Air
One of our favorite stories from last week should come as a celebration to all the world. More than 30 years have passed since ozone-destroying substances were banned in the Montreal Protocol, and recently, scientists have claimed that the Ozone is now recovering. This recent study has shown that the Montreal Protocol has been successful in pausing damage, which may even be reversing. Although this study just scratches the surface for future scientists and environmentalists, there is hope that we can continue to work to save our environment and ultimately our world!
