On a recent Joe Rogan Experience podcast with guest Theo Vonn, the two men began discussing the largely popular social media app, TikTok. With over 1 Billion users, TikTok is a household name, used by millions of Americans. However, the app’s aggressive privacy policy and FBI warnings give reason to be suspicious of its true motives.
Joe Rogan was doing some research into Tik Tok when he found himself reading the company’s privacy policy. The app openly explains that it collects certain information about devices such as:
Theo Vonn is quite surprised (Understandably so)! Why does the app need so much information from its users?
Theo then raises the question…
“Do you think the Chinese Government created TikTok on purpose to collect all that information?”
As for Joe Rogan, he believes with 100% certainty that TikTok is being used with malice intent by the operating Chinese company. He theorizes that the creators of TikTok saw that much of humanity was addicted to social media, and therefore the app was created with the purpose of being the most addictive form of content possible. This would then allow for the monitoring of a mass group of people.
Although this may be difficult to wrap your head around… Joe’s theories are based on truths and there are a number of current events to back up his beliefs.
For reference, Joe explains that In China, the social credit system gives the government full access to every aspect of the lives of every citizen. They have the ability to deny your ability to obtain freedoms such as train tickets, property, or loans.
In a recent instance in China, citizens were forcibly denied access to their banking accounts with the government’s use of tanks.
Joe also references a 60 Minutes interview with the FBI Director. Christopher Wray. In this segment, Director Wray states “The biggest threat we face as a country from a counter intelligence perspective is from the People's Republic of China and especially the Chinese Communist Party. No country presents a broader, more severe threat to our ideas, our innovation, our economic security than China''.
According to Wray, the Chinese Government/Communist Party are targeting our innovation, our trade secrets, and intellectual property. Wray explains that the country has a “bigger hacking program than that of every other major nation. They have stolen more more of Americans’ personal and corporate data than every nation combined“.
These alarming statements lead many Americans to be concerned about the true intent of this app….
What do you think? Is TikTok entertainment…. or espionage?
